Bahrain gets membership in IEA

Manama : International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) based in Amsterdam, Netherlands chose the Kingdom to be its member. The honour is in recognition of the Education Ministry’s outstanding efforts in implementing International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and Progress in International Reading Literacy in Arabic in English (PIRLS).

Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi stressed that obtaining membership in the prestigious Association represents a new milestone.

While other countries are required to apply for membership, the Education Minister officially received a letter and an invitation from the Executive Director of the Association, Dr. Dirk Hastedt to join the Association.

Education Ministry’s National Research Coordinator for TIMSS-PIRLS-GMO, Dr. Huda Al Awadhi will be the official representative at the Association.

Expressing her appreciation to the ministry, Dr. Al Awadhi pointed out that she will contribute significantly to the development of the education sector. Bahrain will participate in the next meeting of the Association with other State members in Norway in October.
