Bahrain’s first educational park had its doors opened in the Kingdom in the Capital Municipality. The sprawling BD106,000 dinar park in the Tubli sits on an area of 1930 square meters. The park will start welcoming visitors as the country relaxes the restrictions to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Muhammad Saad Al-Sahli, the Director-General of the Capital Municipality, said the park aims at educating the younger generation on the importance of afforestation and maintaining environmental balance.

The park will introduce modern concepts in hygiene, recycling and sorting to preserve the national gains and environment. The park has for children several educational games, a model of the solar system, a globe, concrete models showing solar time scale, and a shadow clock.

The garden also has an area for children to learn English letters, a scale model of the snake and ladder game, and a chalkboard wall. “Each of the trees in the park bears a board explaining its botanical names and an electronic digital code to reach a webpage containing detailed information about the tree,” Al Saleh said.

The project, Al Saleh said, has a football field, a basketball court, green space, walkways, public facilities, and kiosks for selling consumer supplies
