The Australian state of Victoria on Monday announced a new record for the highest single-day rise in coronavirus cases in the country since the start of the pandemic, with 532 new infections in 24 hours. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said six more people had died, bringing the national death toll to 162. Victoria broke the country's record for single-day cases, set last Wednesday when 502 new cases were recorded nation-wide, 484 of them in Victoria.
