Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, yesterday received Professor John Ashton, Independent public health consultant, during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Shaikh Mohammed noted that the support offered by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, for all precautionary measures taken against the Coronavirus (COVID-19), ensures the safety and well-being of citizens and residents.

On this note, Shaikh Mohammed added these measures include: the formation of an operations room to monitor all COVID-19 related developments, the allocation of a field hospital and medical care facilities for arrivals from abroad, ensuring the preparedness of medical care workers, strengthening ports of entry and implementing strict quarantine procedures.

Later, Shaikh Mohammed and Professor John Ashton exchanged views on Bahrain’s epidemiological monitoring and preventative measures. For his part, Professor John Ashton commended the government of Bahrain for its prompt action in implementing comprehensive prevention and control measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
