Minister of Industry, Commerce & Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani has patronised ‘Alwane Third Regional Summit’, organised by the Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Development Society in collaboration with Events Starts at Gulf Hotel in the presence of Society Chairman Ahmed Al Saloom.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “The government of Bahrain puts small and medium enterprises sector at the forefront of its concerns and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Tourism works to frame its efforts in coordination with all relevant authorities to enhance this sector and support it.”
“The future is for the small and medium sector. Therefore, they have to not despair and repeat attempts to reach the goals. This is what our parents and grandparents did when they reached further countries for trade to configure the economic base,” he added.
“We are optimistic of young Bahraini and their positive initiatives that we see a lot of success stories at the present time.”
The summit aims at creating a unique platform for woman entrepreneurs to explore and exchange business ideas and experiences to support women. It also creates an ideal opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of women entrepreneurship in Bahrain and women’s role in the economy.
More than 200 businesswomen and participants from Bahrain, Tunisia, India, Oman and Qatar are expected to attend the event.
Society chairman Ahmed Al Saloom said, “This summit is very important initiative towards enabling woman-related issues. Such events are in line with the society’s goals which focus on enabling women and creating business growth opportunities.”
Society Vice-Chairman Khalaf Hujair said, “The summit will come up with several recommendations and the society will follow them up with the authorities concerned to enable women and help them overcome their difficulties.”
The summit witnesses the signing of two agreements between Bahrain SMEs Development Society and Aafaq Society and Bahrain Contractors Society.
The Alwane Summit discussed various topics related to women such as women’s success stories in the region. It also highlighted business challenges and stimulus factors that can help Arab women succeed in their work.
