Manama : The High Criminal Appeals Court upheld the one-year jail term of a woman, who was convicted of publicly insulting the judiciary.

The woman is said to have created a personal account on Twitter, through which she defamed the judicial authority in the Kingdom.

According to the court documents, the abusive remarks were posted between the years 2013 and 2015.

The woman has been arrested after investigations found that she was behind the crime.

She also formed a group on the same platform, where she declared her intent of launching a “fight” against the judicial authority in Bahrain.
