Woman jailed for posting defaming comments

Manama : A woman has been arrested for posting defaming comments against HM the King on a social media network. She had posted the comments on Twitter and the officials arrested her following a tip-off.

Meanwhile, the woman expressed her ‘deep regret’ over the act when she appeared before the High Criminal Court on Wednesday.

“I was under huge pressure, and I admit to what I did. I regret doing it,” she said. “I have children aged under two years. There is nobody to take care of them. I appeal to the court for granting me bail,” she told before a remand judge.

However, the woman was ordered to be remanded for 15 days.
