US Welcomes Start of Bahrain’s UN Security Council Presidency

MANAMA: The United States has welcomed the commencement of Bahrain’s presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), praising the Kingdom’s recent leadership within the Council and its role in advancing key international resolutions.

In a statement, Washington highlighted Bahrain’s contribution to the adoption of UNSC Resolution 2817, noting that it attracted a record level of co-sponsorship and included strong language condemning Iran’s actions against Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and Jordan.

The United States said it looks forward to continued cooperation with Bahrain during its presidency, particularly on issues related to regional security and maritime stability. Washington also stressed the importance of collective efforts to address ongoing threats to international peace and security, including concerns over attempts to disrupt freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain Stephanie L. Hallett reaffirmed Washington’s support, emphasizing close coordination with Bahrain in addressing regional security challenges and maintaining stability in critical waterways
