Washington: The US launched its third day of military strikes on Iranian targets as President Donald Trump announced plans to reopen a maritime blockade on Iran, marking a significant escalation in the conflict. Washington said the attacks aimed to limit Iran's capacity to harm commercial ships and regional security.

Trump stated that the blockade will target Iranian vessels related to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest oil transport routes. The action comes amid ongoing missile and drone attacks between the two sides, as regional tensions drive up oil prices and disrupt maritime traffic.

International concern over the security of Gulf maritime channels and the impact on global energy supply has increased as a result of the resumed fighting, raising worries of a wider regional conflict.
