Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayat, Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA), highlighted the significance of gaining insights from global experiences and expertise to implement best practices in the urban planning sector.

During a meeting with a Slovak delegation, led by Martin Hypky, Head of Spatial Planning and Construction Authority, on their visit to exchange expertise in sustainable urban planning, Al Khayat presented UPDA’s role in overseeing the general policy of sustainable urban planning in the kingdom.

He also discussed the authority’s efforts in executing large-scale development projects.

The UPDA CEO expressed the commitment to strengthen ongoing cooperation with Slovakia in the field of urban planning and sustainable development.

He underscored the importance of exchanging expertise and technologies to realise concepts related to the humanisation of cities.

As part of the visit, Al Khayat and the Slovak delegation explored the Diyar Al-Muharraq Projects, a mega development initiative in collaboration with the government and private sector.

The UPDA-designed master plan reflects an integrated community equipped with vital facilities and advanced services to cater to residents’ needs.

Ahmed Alammadi, Chief Executive Officer at Diyar Al Muharraq, welcomed the delegation and provided insights into the project, including its residential and commercial aspects.

The delegation learned about residential villas in the Al-Bareh and Al-Naseem projects and visited Souq (Market) Al Baraha, showcasing traditional Bahraini architecture and contributing to the national identity.
