Washington DC: President Donald Trump will travel to Beijing on May 14 for a two-day summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, marking the first visit by a U.S. leader to China in nearly ten years.

The meeting, originally delayed by the conflict in the Middle East, will focus heavily on securing China’s help to mediate the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.

Beyond regional security, the leaders are expected to discuss a major "’transactional’ trade expansion. Reports indicate that a massive order for Boeing aircraft and increased Chinese purchases of U.S. agricultural goods are on the table in exchange for tariff relief.

Top American tech and finance executives are expected to attend the talks as both nations look to stabilize global markets.
