A new born girl died at a Saudi hospital after heavy rain cut off power and deprived her from oxygen, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Fatima was on a support machine when the power went off at King Khalid Hospital in the Northwestern town of Tabuk after rainwater leaked into wards, ‘Okaz’ said.

“Power went off and the generators did not work.

“I asked the doctors to transfer the girl to emergency before power went off, but they refused.

“This is negligent and carelessness,” the girl’s grandfather Mohammed Al Balwi said, adding that he would report the case to authorities.
