Nation proud of you, Modi tells ISRO scientists

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday praised Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists for the active passion and efforts they had put into Chandrayaan Mission 2.

Modi was speaking after Indian spacecraft ’s unprecedented attempt to make a soft, controlled landing in the moon’s south polar region did not fully succeed. Shortly before touchdown, the robotic lander Vikram—part of the Chandrayaan-2 mission—fell out of contact with mission control.

ISRO said that the spacecraft stopped communicating with Earth when it was within 1.3 miles of the lunar surface. “There are ups and downs in life.

This is not a small achievement. The nation in proud of you. Hope for the best. I congratulate you. “You all have done a big service to nation, science and mankind. I am with you all the way, move forward bravely,” the Indian Prime Minister told ISRO scientists.
