Muharraq maintained their winning ways last night in the 2022/2023 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League, being played at the Bahrain Volleyball Association Arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
Muharraq swept past Al Dair 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 27-25) in their week four contest held yesterday.
The victors relied heavily on the strong play of top players such as Nigerian professional Samuel Anthony Ogwuche, Hassan Al Haddad, Mahmood Ali, Abbas Ali, Hussain Khalifa and Rashid Ahmed, to name a few.
With the result, Muharraq improved to nine points on the Group Two standings in the league’s preliminary round, while Dair remained on zero points.
Elsewhere in the fourth week of action, Al Nasser beat Al Tadhamun 3-0 (25-20, 25- 14, 25-14) and Busaiteen overcame A’Ali 3-1 (25-21, 32-34, 25-22, 25-18).
Muharraq, Dair, Nasser, Tadhamun, Busaiteen and A’ali are in the same division as Dar Kulaib; while Group One features Bani Jamra, Al Shabab, Al Ahli, Al Najma, Nabih Saleh, Ma’ameer and Etehad Al Reef.
Following a single round-robin, the top three from each division move on to compete in the round of six for the league title.
Action in this stage will feature two rounds, with the top four moving on to the Golden Square semi-finals.
