Muharraq police charged 721 people for stepping outside without wearing masks, since the implementation of the law, said a top cop. The Director-General of the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate said the violators were caught for being in public places and commercial stores without wearing face masks, thereby defeating the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of the virus.

The director-general said it is mandatory to observe social distancing measures, as well as other precautionary measures including wearing masks. Gathering of more than five people is also not allowed. The directorate, he said, will continue its awareness campaigns, and urged citizens and residents to adhere to precautionary measures to support the state’s efforts to combat the pandemic.
