Mbappe Out of Second Real Madrid Club World Cup Clash

Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe will not be risked for the team’s Club World Cup match against Pachuca, a club source said yesterday.

Mbappe suffered a minor muscle strain in training and was held out of the team’s last 3-0 win.

The 25-year-old will now target a comeback next weekend if Real Madrid advances to the final.

Madrid top Group A in the European Conference with six points and will play either LA Galaxy or Al Ittihad in a semifinal in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Mbappe’s form has been strong, with 41 goals in all competitions, but Madrid officials said they didn’t want to “gamble” on his fitness for a non-league or major trophy.
