A 33-year-old man who attacked his father has had his initial jail term confirmed. The appellant assaulted his mother physically and insulted her while he was under the influence of drugs, for which he was sent to two years in prison along with a fine of BD500.

The Bahraini defendant was said to have pushed his mother to the ground before hurling insults at her. According to his sister, who reported the incident to police, he caused damage to the car of their brother, which was parked beside the house.

"He would lose his temper every time he consumes drugs. But this time it went far than we are accustomed to," the sister told prosecutors in her statement.

"He pushed my mother and her body hit a chair before going down. She suffered pain in her legs. He also insulted her with bad words before advancing to scatter our home furniture on his way out," she added.
