Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was informed about the needs and demands of fishermen by a delegation from Muharraq and Sitra fishermen, who met him at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.

The Premier said that harming the fishermen’s interests would not be accepted, adding that their efforts to provide food for the citizens were highly appreciated.

HRH the Prime Minister pointed out that the government is aware of the hardships of the fishing professions, and is keen to ensure the livelihood of fishermen without causing any harm to the marine environment and fisheries.

Prince Khalifa affirmed that the government would spare no effort to remove the obstacles facing fishermen, given that fishing is their profession and their only source of their livelihood.

HRH the PM added that that fisheries and shrimps were a national wealth that should be preserved and developed, being one of the main food resources for the Bahraini people.

Muharraq and Sitra fishermen lauded HRH Premier's support to the fishing profession, and his constant directives to the competent sides to interact with fishermen and resolve their problems.
