Government keen on empowering women: Labour Minister

Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan congratulated Wife of His Majesty the King and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Chairwoman HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa on the International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8 each year.

Minister Humaidan praised SCW’s efforts to empower women and boost Bahraini women’s economic and political participation.

He also hailed the ongoing reforms led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government’s initiatives led by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, with the support of Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Minister lauded the feats achieved by Bahraini women ever since HM the King launched comprehensive reforms.

He also lauded the National Strategy for Revival of Bahraini Women adopted by the government as an action plan to ensure the inclusion of women’s needs in the Kingdom’s development process.

The Ministry has always been keen to employ Bahraini women in attractive jobs that are suitable for their family and social circumstances, the Minister explained.

Minister Humaidan added that the Ministry is working to remove any obstacles
faced by job-seekers by introducing employment programmes, as well as part-time job schemes.

The Ministry has succeeded in increasing the percentage of employed Bahraini women to 40 per cent last year alone, the Minister stated.

He also confirmed Bahrain’s keenness on keeping abreast of international developments and sharing its efforts with the world community to boost women’s empowerment.
