Fiat Chrysler posts 299-million-euro net loss in third quarter

Fiat Chrysler said Wednesday it suffered a third quarter net loss of 299 million euros ($331 million), largely down to one-off items and recall issues, but operating results improved significantly.

The Italian-US automaker had earned 188 million euros in July through September 2014.

However adjusted operating profits jumped 35 percent to 1.3 billion euros, with a strong performance in North America and Latin American operations returning to profitability despite the difficult economic environment.

Net sales climbed 17 percent from the same quarter last year to 27.5 billion euros.

Shares in the world's seventh-largest carmaker rose 4.35 percent to 13.19 euros in Milan after the results were announced.
