El Moutawakel hails Shaikha Hayat award

International Olympic Committee (IOC) vice-president Nawal El Moutawakel congratulated Supreme Council for Youth and Sports member, Bahrain Olympic Committee board member and chairwoman of the women’s sports committee Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa on winning the 2015 IOC Women & Sport Award for Asia.

In a letter addressed to Shaikha Hayat, El Moutawakel expressed compliments on the Bahraini’s recent honouring, which took place at the awards ceremony at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

El Moutawakel said Shaikha Hayat’s award winning achievement was well deserved for her longstanding efforts to promote women in sport, that have resulted in strong female representation on its board, in senior management, and on its Olympic teams.
