Abu Dhabi: A court in the UAE has directed a woman to pay Dh10,000 after ruling that she verbally abused another woman, causing emotional and reputational harm.

The case was heard by the Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court, which concluded that the offensive remarks constituted a violation of personal dignity and resulted in psychological distress. The victim had sought financial compensation for the damage suffered.

In its decision, the court relied on provisions of the Civil Transactions Law, which holds individuals accountable for harm inflicted on others. In addition to the compensation amount, the defendant was also required to bear all related legal and court expenses.
