Manama : More than 350 illegal drugs have been confiscated in Bahrain during the first quarter of 2016, according to the security authorities here.

In a statement issued yesterday, Customs President Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa confirmed that the narcotic confiscations has reached 355 in the first three months of this year through land, air and sea borders.

“This highlights the importance of the Customs Affairs in fighting drug trafficking and the essential role of community partnership that has been reinforced by Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to curb drug-related issues,” Shaikh Ahmed stated.

The President hailed the existing cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in arresting traffickers and violators through King Fahd Causeway.

Shaikh Ahmed said that associating the Anti-Narcotics Directorate in the annual exhibition of the Customs Affairs to mark the World Customs Day is aimed to enhance awareness of parents and concerned bodies.
