Dubai: A Pakistani who, with two other fugitives, broke into a restaurant and stole Dh3,000 in cash in addition to a safe weighing 100kg and containing Dh6,000, was sentenced to six months in jail.
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered the burglar to be deported after serving his jail term, Emirates 247 reported.
On February 27, 2013, at around 1am, the restaurant closed and at around 5.45am, it was discovered that someone had broken into the restaurant using a tool and broke the drawer where Dh3,000 was kept.
“We also discovered that a safe weighing 100kg and containing Dh5,000 in cash and 13 health cards of the staff, was missing,” testified a witness from the restaurant.
Police found that the broken up safe in a sandy area.
On the day following the theft, police arrested the burglar for his involvement in this and other similar crimes.
