The world witnessed a hell of terror when three continents came under terrorist attacks yesterday. A deadly gunfire at a Tunisian resort killed 37 persons, mostly Germans and Britons.
A beheading coupled with an explosion left two injured in France. A suicide bomber exploded himself inside a Shia mosque in Kuwait killing 25 worshippers and injuring over hundred.
At the time of going to the press, the dreaded Islamic State (IS) had claimed responsibility for Kuwait mosque blast. So, the question is: who perpetrated the other two attacks?
As things stand now, they too appear to be the handiwork of IS which is known to come up with dramatic stunts during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Remember, it was only a few days before IS spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani had said the group would turn Ramadan into a time of calamity for the infidels…Shias and apostate Muslims."
It was last year, for instance, IS declared its “caliphate” on the first day of Ramadan declaring the dawn of a “new era of international jihad.”
The newly proclaimed caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi too underscored the significance that IS attaches to Ramadan when he made his first public appearance.
“There is no deed in this virtuous month or in any other month better than jihad in the path of Allah, so take advantage.....and walk the path of your righteous predecessors,” Baghdadi had said.
There seem to be no direct links among the three incidents. However, the timing of the attacks is something that is unmistakable as the IS has stepped into the first anniversary of its “caliphate.”
So, if this assumption is true, then it could be safely presumed that the worst fears of the traumatised world in which we live may also have come true.
In other words, it means from a motely crowd of perverted individuals, IS within a short period has upped its clout acquiring the power to unleash coordinated attacks globally!
If France, Tunisia and Kuwait came under attack yesterday, it could be any other country tomorrow. And, that is really a worrying aspect and should prompt one to sit up and think!
