Bahrain gym instructor jailed for drug peddling

Manama : A gym instructor, who peddled drugs, has been jailed for five years. The defendant was arrested after the Anti-Narcotic Department at the Ministry of Interior received a tip-off stating that he was in possession of illicit drugs with intention to use and sell.

During a sting operation, a police officer in plain clothes contacted him. He was lured to sell BD100 of shabu to the officer, and he was nabbed while handing over the drugs to the police officer.

The defendant tried to elude trial, claiming that he was arrested while he was driving his car. He, however, admitted to consuming hashish after his drug tests proved positive.

When questioned about being in possession of a digital scale, he said: “I usually buy drugs, so I take the scale with me so nobody cheats me.”
