Abu Dhabi schools to be closed today

Schools in Abu Dhabi will be closed today due to bad weather conditions, the Abu Dhabi Education Council tweeted late on Tuesday night.

School will be closed for students, teaching staff and management of both public and private schools, the tweet said.

According to Khaleej Times, while various parts of UAE witnessed heavy for the second day in a row, Abu Dhabi experienced thunderstorms on Tuesday. The sudden wet weather, after a sunny weekend, was reportedly due to an extension of low pressure coming from southwestern UAE.

Scattered rain and thick dark skies took over Abu Dhabi early Tuesday morning. The city woke up to light drizzles, which cleared towards mid morning and turn into heavy showers by afternoon.
