19 year old arrested for abandoning minor after impregnating her

A Bahraini boy has been arrested for impregnating a minor girl, also a Bahraini, and abandoning her upon discovering the pregnancy.

Both, 19 years of age, met on popular social media platform ‘Instagram’ and began dating.

During their relationship the two would have intercourse multiple times at the girl’s residence in Manama, claimed the 19 year old girl.

The defendant who was arrested by authorities last month claims that he had no knowledge of the girl’s real age as she informed him that she was 23 years old. Furthermore, the girl gave birth to a baby boy whom the defendant claims he did not father.

Defence lawyer Ms Shaima Mohammed has requested for a second DNA test stating that the initial test, according to her knowledge, denied any biological link.

The Judge has permitted the second test to be taken and submitted as evidence.
