Pongal – The Harvest festival of Tamil Nadu was celebrated in style this Friday organised by Bharathi Association in co-ordination with The Indian Club. More than 2500 people turned out for the annual event. Ram Singh, Deputy Chief of Mission and HOC from Indian embassy, Bahrain presided the event as the Chief guest. Sudha Chandran, an accomplishd Indian classical dancer and as well as a film & Serial celebrity artiste graced the event as the Guest of Honour. More than 1000 members and guests joined in the Pongal feast, a variety of Tamil cuisine dishes served in traditional banana leaf. An Inaugural Bharatha Naattiyam dance ‘Mallari’ was performed by children choreographed by Dance Teacher Hansul Gani on the occasion.
