HM: State will protect rights

Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday stressed Bahrain’s resolve to protect human rights, backing all efforts made in this regard. “The Kingdom is fully committed to international law and conventions related to human rights which are an integral part of Bahrain’s culture, inherent Arab identity, Islamic faith and noble values of tolerance, co-existence, pluralism and acceptance of the other,” His Majesty said while receiving the Board of Commissioners Chairwoman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Maria Khoury and members at Safriya Palace yesterday.

Receiving NIHR annual report, HM lauded the achievements and activities at the local and international level stated in the report, praising their positive role in cooperating and communicating with the international organisations and institutions to foster human rights. HM stressed the Kingdom’s pride in its distinguished human rights record whose principles are based on modern and developed constitutional and legal texts.

HM King affirmed that human rights in Bahrain are protected and that the Bahraini society is witnessing a perpetual growth in all fields.

HM pointed out keenness to provide citizens with top-quality services, ensure a decent life for them and cater to all their needs.
