A 46-year-old man has been arrested after a hit-and-run crash triggered a massive explosion at the Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center on Tuesday morning.

Police said Jason Lee Beach slammed his vehicle into a gas line outside the facility, which is still under construction. The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. and was caught on video, showing a powerful blast that tore through the site.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, but the explosion caused heavy damage to the building. Authorities quickly secured the area to prevent further danger.

Beach fled the scene after the crash but was later taken into custody. Investigators are working to determine what led to the reckless incident.
