A man was arrested in the Indian state of Punjab on Saturday for allegedly hacking his teenaged minor daughter to death, in a fit of rage when she came back late from school, police said.
The accused, Balawinder Singh attacked his victim daughter, Mehakdeep Kaur, with a sickle on Friday evening.
She was reportedly rushed to the hospital in Chamkaur Sahib town and later referred to the PGIMER in Chandigarh where she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.
Singh, gave up himself before the Chamkaur Sahib police in Ropar district, 50km from here, said SHO Des Raj.
According to police, the deceased, a student of class 11, had gone with her friend after school and later went to her uncle's house. Her father, who came to pick her up, was not satisfied with her reply for coming late and attacked her on the way from Chamkaur Sahib to their village Gaggon.
The father was initially booked for attempt to murder which was later converted to murder after the victim passed away.
