Three clearing companies have been put on trial for providing legal services without a licence, including filing complaints on behalf of corporations and individuals, Prosecutor Hussain Al Buali announced in a statement yesterday. Buali said that the companies were charged with violating local laws after a complaint was lodged against them by the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs.

The prosecutor underlined that the defendants were questioned before referring them for trial, insisting that only legal offices and lawyers are eligible to provide legal consultations and practice law. “We will take all necessary measures to combat this phenomenon, which is spreading in our society,” he warned. Buali added that violators will be sentenced to at least one year behind bars and be issued with a minimum fine of BD1,000.
