Cloud is the next big thing

Manama : The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) yesterday announced plans to migrate ten official websites to a cloud computing system developed by Amazon Web Services (AWS), on a trial basis.

The trial phase is expected to complete full migration in a year, iGA said in a statement. The move follows the signing of an agreement with the technology investment firm C5 Capital.

The websites selected for migration are from: Ministry of Justice & Islamic Affairs; Ministry of Health; Central Bank of Bahrain; National Oil & Gas Authority; Survey & Land Registration Bureau; Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning; Ministry of Transportations & Telecommunication; Public Prosecution; Capital Governorate and the Northern Area Municipality.

In this regard, iGA Chief Executive Mohamed Ali AlQaed stated that such migration will open doors wide for Bahrain to enhance and increase its productivity on the short and
long runs.

Works will begin by assigning a team to carryout the process under the direct supervision of the authority.
