The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host the 46th Gulf Summit of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, in December.

The event reaffirms Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to promoting and advancing joint Gulf cooperation.

The upcoming summit takes place amid growing regional and international challenges, highlighting the pivotal role of the GCC in fostering unified responses and enhancing mechanisms for collective action across political, economic, and security domains.

Key issues expected to be addressed during the summit include strengthening defense and security coordination, deepening economic integration, and discussing regional and global developments impacting the region’s stability.

Topics

Other strategic topics on the agenda include energy security, food sustainability, and accelerating digital transformation across member states.

The 45th Gulf Summit was held in Doha, Qatar, in December 2024, where GCC leaders reiterated their unity and adopted several economic and security initiatives aimed at bolstering regional cooperation.

Bahrain has previously hosted the summit on seven occasions — in 1982, 1988, 1994, 2000, 2004, 2012, and 2016 — each marking a key milestone in the Council’s journey towards deeper collaboration and integration among Gulf nations.
