Bahrain Ranks Sixth in Arab Food Security Index 2025

Manama: Bahrain has secured the fourth position in the Gulf and sixth in the Arab world in the 2025 Arab Food Security Index issued by the World Population Review, reflecting the Kingdom’s continued progress in strengthening national food security.

The index evaluated 12 Arab countries based on their ability to provide food, the sustainability of their reserves, and the efficiency of their supply chains. Bahrain achieved a score of 70.3 points, outperforming several countries in the region.

The ranking highlights Bahrain’s success in enhancing food security through strategic initiatives that support local production, develop supply chains, expand agricultural and food partnerships, and improve inventory and stock management systems.

According to the report, the UAE topped the Arab world with 75.2 points, followed by Qatar (72.4), Oman (71.2), Saudi Arabia (69.9) and Jordan (66.2). Yemen and Sudan recorded the lowest scores.

Bahrain’s performance reflects ongoing government efforts in recent years to increase self-sufficiency, improve logistics infrastructure and attract investment within the food and agriculture sectors, all contributing to a more resilient and sustainable food ecosystem.
