Woman’s demand seeking hubby to settle ‘baby delivery bill’ rejected

A Bahraini woman, who demanded her husband in court to compensate her for paying hospital fees for the delivery of their child, got her lawsuit rejected as free healthcare is guaranteed by the constitution to every Bahraini citizen and isn’t an obligation of the accused, the husband.

According to the defendant’s lawyer Mahmood Rabea, the woman demanded her husband to pay the fees of the private hospital where she delivered the baby, in addition to related financial expenses for medications, the baby’s clothes and other appliances. The lawyer said the wife failed to provide any evidence that she or the baby’s condition required special medical care that wasn’t be provided by public hospitals and require treatment at private health institutions.

“She knows about her husband’s financial condition. He is not rich and financially incapable of bearing the expenses of a private hospital,” Mr. Rabea said.
