Manama: The Sanitary Engineering Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Asma Murad, revealed that the Ministry had achieved 77pc progress in the urgent works for providing and installing lifting and pumping stations.

The project is part of the Ministry’s plan to upgrade sewerage networks throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Murad explained that the project aims to maintain pumping and lifting stations, increase their efficiency and prolong their life cycle, in addition to limiting damage. It would solve the issue of sewage flood that could occur in the area connected to those stations.

The projects comprise of surveying 71 lifting and pumping stations, replacing some of the pumps and control panels and carrying out a number of electro mechanical improvements.

The BD1,547,650 project was awarded to Zohal Construction Company.
