The Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan said that identifying crimes and arresting the perpetrators in accordance with the law were the roles of the police officers.

He said the police were trained to protect the public and property as outlined in the Code of Criminal Procedures, which grant them the power of apprehension and to conduct field investigations.

The Chief pointed out that the public security forces had taken precautionary measures and designed deployment plans as well as initiating control and surveillance points in sensitive locations. Moreover, the public security chief commented that the citizens could be the most responsible individuals by cooperating with the police and following the rules.

“The Interior Ministry is dedicated to protecting the public and engaging in a productive and open community partnership with groups from all the society’s segments,” he added.
