Indonesia is keen to promote its culture through movies, said Indonesian Ambassador Helman Chilman

Arisman while speaking to DT News on the second day of Indonesian Film Festival at Bahrain National

Museum here in Manama.

He said that they had chosen movies as a medium to promote Indonesia because the film industry was

one of the industries that could easily survive in his country.

He said that they screened one of the most popular movies Soekarno. He said that Soekarno was their

founding father and a great leader who did great service for the Asian African countries.

Speaking to DT News, Nabeel A. Rahman Ajoor, a Bahraini national said that it was a matter of pleasure

for him to participate in the Indonesian Film Festival. He said that generally there was no chance to

watch any Indonesian film in the Bahraini cinemas and the festival served them with a great

opportunity. He also said that such programmes were helpful in promoting their mutual relationships.

He said that he was very thankful for the Indonesian Ambassador for arranging such an event.

The festival was commenced on Monday and will conclude today. The festival is aimed at promoting

Indonesia, its people, nature and social life through movies. Indonesian Embassy has been conducting

this festival for the last three years. After watching the movies, the people of Bahrain will have a better

understanding of Indonesia, its people and its potential.

The movies selected for screening are Soekarno, Omar’s 28 days in Indonesia and Erau Kota Raja.
