Athens: Greek anti-terror police arrested three individuals on Friday following a series of coordinated bomb attacks earlier this month. The dawn explosions occurred on July one in Thessaloniki, targeting the homes and vehicles of three ruling party politicians. Improvised gas canister explosives killed the mother of a former political candidate and injured four other people.

The suspects are young anti-establishment figures known to local authorities. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed deep outrage, labeling the rapid coordinated strikes as cowardly and murderous.

Leftist and anarchist groups frequently use small homemade butane canisters to target political figures and corporate properties across Greece.

Hours later, Athens police arrested two additional people over a deadly 2010 bank firebomb attack. That historic anti-austerity protest killed three innocent bank workers, including a pregnant woman, right after the Greek government signed its first economic bailout deal.
