A 37-member Chinese rescue team arrived in Myanmar on Saturday to assist with relief efforts following the catastrophic earthquake that struck the country on Friday. The team, hailing from the southwestern province of Yunnan, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including detectors, earthquake early warning systems, portable satellites, and drones to aid in the disaster response, as reported by the state news agency Xinhua.

The earthquake, which registered a magnitude of 7.7, is the most powerful to hit Myanmar in decades. According to local authorities, the earthquake has claimed the lives of at least 1,000 people and left over 2,400 injured.

In addition to the rescue team’s deployment, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his condolences to Myanmar's military junta leader, offering support and solidarity in the wake of the disaster. The international aid underscores the strong regional cooperation during times of crisis.
