Syria Arrests Alleged Hezbollah Cell In Daraa Over Planned Rocket Attacks

Damascus: Syrian security forces arrested three people suspected of being associated with Hezbollah in the Yarmouk Basin of western Daraa after officials claimed the organisation was assembling rocket-launch systems for planned strikes.

Syria's Interior Ministry said the General Intelligence Directorate, in collaboration with the Internal Security Forces, conducted a pre-emptive operation after monitoring the alleged preparations. The operation demolished the rocket launch platforms.

Authorities did not reveal the planned targets or how many launchers were used. Officials said they are questioning the three suspects and will refer them to legal authorities after the investigation is complete.

The arrests come as Syrian authorities step up their efforts against Hezbollah-linked networks operating in the country. Hezbollah has repeatedly refuted reports of carrying out such actions in Syria.
