Flooding Problem Enters Ninth Year

Northern Municipal Council members have renewed calls for permanent solutions to flooding problems affecting several areas, saying some locations have remained unresolved for years.

Council member Abdullah Mubarak Al Qubaisi said around 30 flooding points identified over the past eight years still require permanent solutions.

He said authorities continue to spend annually on tankers and pumps while the same locations remain affected during heavy rainfall.

Al Qubaisi called for a dedicated budget to address the problem permanently, highlighting areas including Al Lawzi and parts of Hamad Town.

He said the council had been receiving explanations about temporary solutions since 2018 and urged authorities to move towards long-term infrastructure measures.
