Eight stray dogs attack karate player in Kuwait

Concerns over stray dogs in Kuwait have increased after a karate player was attacked by eight dogs and taken to intensive care.

Mustafa Al Saqer, a karate player at Burgan Club and an employee at the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries, was attacked on Saturday while he was leaving his workplace.

His brother Nasser said Mustafa had gone out on his break to exercise as he prepared for a karate match. He was suddenly attacked by eight dogs for about 30 minutes.

Mustafa tried to fight the dogs off until he felt he was about to lose consciousness. A colleague then heard the noise and used his car horn to scare the dogs away.

An ambulance was called, and Mustafa was taken to Farwaniya Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Nasser said Mustafa suffered several injuries from his head to his feet, including a deep wound to his right leg and a serious injury to his left hand. He is still undergoing tests and an MRI to determine the full extent of his injuries.

Nasser also said his brother is still suffering from the psychological effects of the attack and keeps reliving what happened.

The Ministry of Interior urged citizens and residents to be careful around stray dogs and avoid approaching or provoking them. It also urged people to keep children under supervision and take extra care of elderly people.

The ministry asked the public to report areas where stray dogs gather by calling 112 and giving the exact location so that the necessary action can be taken.
