Youth Explore Bahrain’s Legislative Process

The General Secretariat of the Shura Council received participants in the “Joy of Knowledge” programme, organised by the Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with Sharifa Al Awadhi Youth Centre and the Children and Youth Club at Muharraq Social Centre.

The visit aimed to introduce participants to the legislative process in Bahrain and the constitutional role and responsibilities of the Shura Council. Legal researcher Muneera Al Abbasi delivered a presentation explaining how draft laws, decrees by law and legislative proposals are studied and discussed.

Participants also learned about coordination between the Shura and Representatives Councils, as well as cooperation with the government throughout the legislative process. They toured the main Shura Council chamber and were briefed on how parliamentary sessions are held and managed.

The visit forms part of the Shura Secretariat’s efforts to strengthen engagement with organisations supporting children and youth, while promoting parliamentary awareness, understanding of democratic practices and values of citizenship and national responsibility among younger generations.
