Cairo: Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China is ready to work together with Middle Eastern countries to assist preserve shipping in the face of rising regional tensions and interruptions to major maritime routes.

Xi made the statements as he began his state visit to Egypt, where he met with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The visit comes as the region's volatility continues to disrupt maritime and oil supplies.

China has attempted to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties in the Middle East, with Egypt emerging as a key partner due to its strategic location and ownership of the Suez Canal.

Xi also urged China and Egypt to promote peace, stability, and the interests of developing nations through more multilateral cooperation.
