Beirut: The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has documented 1,030 projectile trajectories across southern Lebanon between August 21 and 27, averaging approximately 147 firings per day.

In a statement released on social media, the peacekeeping mission warned that while violence levels have ebbed compared to earlier this year, the situation along the border remains highly fragile. UNIFIL highlighted the severe strain placed on civilians, noting that ongoing cross-border exchanges continue to inflict heavy damage on residential properties and essential public infrastructure, hindering recovery efforts.

The mission reiterated that strict compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701 remains critical to preventing further escalation and restoring long-term stability along the Blue Line. The report comes amidst renewed operations by the Israeli military, including localized ground demolitions and heavy artillery shelling across border towns, bringing total casualties in Lebanon since the resurgence of conflict in March to 4,352 dead and over 12,300 injured.
