DUBLIN: US President Donald Trump has urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to halt military strikes against Russian diesel infrastructure.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Ireland, Trump warned that the sustained attacks are driving a global fuel shortage and ‘hurting the world.’

The appeal comes amid mounting pressure on international energy markets following a series of long-range drone strikes on Russian refining capacity.

Addressing the media at his Doonbeg resort, Trump urged Kyiv to spare energy assets and refocus its operations on direct military objectives, emphasizing that Ukraine has ‘plenty of other targets’ to pursue.

Trump blamed the Ukrainian campaign on fuel processing facilities for inflating global energy costs, dismissing suggestions that Middle East instability was the primary catalyst for the current diesel crunch.

The intervention signals a direct effort by Washington to protect international fuel supplies while Kyiv continues its long-range offensive.
