Prison term replaced with community service while BD250 fine and confiscation order remain in place.

The Fifth High Criminal Appeals Court replaced a three-month prison sentence with community service for a bakery worker convicted of unlawfully disposing of government-subsidised flour.

The Court of First Instance had also imposed a BD250 fine and ordered the confiscation of the seized items. The court found that subsidised flour had been used to produce bread before the required approval was obtained from the Consumer Protection Directorate. The Appeals Court applied leniency under Article 74 of the Penal Code while maintaining the fine and confiscation order
